Should I expect any specific weather challenges?
February in Vegas is generally pleasant, but don't let the "party" vibe fool you into underdressing. Expect average temperatures around 65°F (18°C), but since much of the action happens at night or in the early morning, it can feel significantly crisper. I’d recommend a light layer for the start line that you can easily ditch once the blood starts pumping. The dry desert air is the real wildcard—stay on top of your hydration long before you hit the course.
What are my options for distance and timing?
You have three main choices: a 5K on Saturday (Feb 20), and then the 10K or Half Marathon on Sunday (Feb 21). If you want the full "Remix Challenge" experience, do the 5K on Saturday and then tackle the Half or 10K on Sunday to snag that extra medal. For most, the Half Marathon is the sweet spot for soaking in the Strip atmosphere without the grueling endurance requirements of a full marathon.
Is the entry fee actually worth it?
It depends on your definition of value. At roughly $205 for the Half Marathon and $190 for the 10K, you are paying for the production—the live bands, the DJs, and the sheer logistical feat of closing the Strip. If you want a cheap, quiet road race, this isn't it. If you want a festival where the finish line includes an encore concert, the price is fair for the entertainment provided.
How difficult is the actual route?
The course is remarkably flat, which is great for keeping a steady pace, but the "character" of the course is more about visual stimulation than elevation changes. You’ll be running past iconic landmarks and neon lights, which is exhilarating for the first few miles but can be mentally taxing if you aren't used to the sensory overload. It’s a straight-shot urban grind that feels much faster than it actually is because of the hype squads and music.
What do I get for crossing the finish line?
Every finisher gets an "epic" medal and access to the Finish Line Festival, which includes the post-race concert. If you are a completionist and do the Saturday 5K plus a Sunday race, you’ll also pick up the Remix Challenge Medal. It’s a heavy emphasis on the "swag" and the party aspect of the finish, which is a core part of the RNR brand.
