The Cayuga Trails 2026 is scheduled for May 30, 2026, in Ithaca, New York, hosted at 105 Enfield Falls Rd. Participants can expect typical late-spring weather in the Finger Lakes region, which often includes mild temperatures ranging from the 50s to 60s Fahrenheit, though humidity and occasional spring showers are common. This 14th edition of the event offers a challenging ultramarathon experience through a predominantly singletrack, mixed-terrain course that winds through scenic gorges, waterfalls, and eastern forests.

What distances and elevations are available?

  • 50K: 31.6 miles with approximately 6,882' of elevation gain
  • 50 Miler: 50 miles with approximately 10,203' of elevation gain

What is the terrain like on the course?

The course is approximately 95% trail and 5% paved. It is characterized by miles of singletrack, historic signature stone stairs, and mixed eastern forests. While the climbs are present, they are generally not extremely long or steep.

Can I use running poles?

Yes, poles are allowed; however, they are noted as not being the best fit for this specific course due to the nature of the ascents.

What are the rules regarding pacers and crews?

  • Pacers: Not allowed
  • Crews: Allowed, but no additional crew vehicles are permitted. Crew members must park in the lower Park main lot and walk to or from the staging Pavilion.

Where are the aid stations and drop bag locations?

Drop bags can be left at the following two locations:

  • Y Camp Staging Area: Accessible at miles 10, 25, and 35
  • Buttermilk: Accessible at miles 15, 20, 40, and 45 (bags are shuttled here and returned to the staging area only after the aid station closes in the evening)

What is the policy on hydration and waste?

The event encourages a cupless experience. Participants are advised to bring a silicone cup if they require more than their standard bottles or hydration bladder.

What is included with my race entry?

How does the event support local conservation?

Portions of each entry fee support the Finger Lakes Land Trust, the Finger Lakes Trail Conference, and the State Parks Heritage Trust.

What is the refund and rollover policy?

No refunds are issued. Entries may only be rolled over to another RNR event (for the same or following year) if notification is provided at least 30 days before race day. No rollovers or refunds are permitted within 30 days of the event.

What is the participant capacity?

The field is capped at 440 individuals. Approximately 40 waitlist entrants are typically moved through based on prior year trends. Volunteers or past event supporters may receive priority status on the waitlist.
