Bear Paw Marathon 2026

What is the course profile and surface like?

The race offers a mixed-surface experience consisting of both gravel and pavement. The route is characterized by a gradual descent from the mountains to the plains, providing an overall downhill profile. While the course includes some hills along the way, it is designed to be faster and more forgiving than a pure uphill trail race.

What makes the Bear Paw Mountains unique?

The mountains are the namesake of the event, featuring a geological formation that resembles a bear's outstretched paw. This landscape provides the backdrop for the "run the paw" experience, offering runners a combination of mountain scenery and expansive views.

Where will the race take place?

The course runs through the Bear Paw Mountains and passes through the Beaver Creek Park area. This area is notable for being the largest county park in the nation, providing a scenic environment for the point-to-point style run.

What type of running experience can participants expect?

Rather than a flat city loop, the marathon offers a scenic point-to-point experience. Runners will move through foothills and park roads, experiencing a transition from mountainous terrain to the open plains.
