What is the race date and time?
The 2026 Knobstone 50 is scheduled for Saturday, April 11, 2026. The race starts at 6:00 AM from Deam Lake State Recreation Area and has an overall cutoff time of 1:00 AM the following day, which is 19 hours from the start. This year, an additional two hours have been added to the cutoff time to provide more flexibility for participants.
Where is the start and finish located?
The race begins at Deam Lake State Recreation Area, located at 1217 Deam Lake Rd, Borden, IN 47106. The finish line is at Delaney Creek Park, situated at 8215 Delaney Park Rd, Scottsburg, IN 47170. The course spans approximately 50 miles, traveling from Borden to Scottsburg along the Knobstone Trail.
When and where is bib pickup?
Bib pickup for the 2026 Knobstone 50 will take place on two occasions. On Friday, April 10, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Delaney Creek Park (the finish location). On Saturday, April 11, from 5:00 AM to 5:45 AM at Deam Lake State Recreation Area (the start location).
What can participants expect on the course?
Runners on the Knobstone 50 can expect a challenging trail route featuring steep technical ascents and descents, relentless rolling hills, and exposed ridgelines with panoramic views. The trail also includes shaded valleys with multiple creek crossings. Are there aid stations along the route?
Yes, there are aid stations throughout the course, and all runners must check in and out at every aid station. These include New Chapel, Elk Creek, and Spurgeon. No aid stations may be skipped, ensuring that runners have access to necessary supplies throughout the race.
What is included in the race package?
The race package includes a Knobstone × FRACTEL hat, pre- and post-race meals, professional photography, a free shuttle to the start line, and live GPS tracking. Well-stocked aid stations are also provided along the course.
What awards are given to finishers?
Every finisher of the 2026 Knobstone 50 earns the right to have their name etched onto The Finisher Slab, a ceremonial piece of live edge wood unique to each race year. The top three male, female, and non-binary finishers receive a podium award crafted by Joe Hardin of HT Hardwood Designs ↗.
