Medal Madness at Homestead, FL (26) 2026

What should I expect from the course layout?

The course is strictly "out and back" style using paved loops within the park. For the 5K and 10K, you are looking at a 1.56-mile loop (one lap for the 5K, two for the 10K). The Half Marathon is a bit more grueling on the mind, requiring four laps of a 1.64-mile loop. It is dead flat, which is great for pacing, but the repetition means you'll be seeing the same landmarks every few minutes. Check the routes on MapMyRun ↗ or MapMyRun ↗.

Is the June heat going to be an issue?

Yes. Running in South Florida in late June is a battle against humidity and rising temperatures. With an 8:30 AM start, you'll beat the worst of the midday sun, but it will still be muggy. Wear lightweight, moisture-wicking gear and don't skimp on electrolytes. This is not the day for heavy cotton.

How much am I going to pay to run?

The pricing is quite reasonable for a US road race. The 5K is $30, the 10K is $45, and the Half Marathon is $65. Given the low entry barrier, it's a solid value, especially if you are looking for a casual weekend effort rather than a high-production spectacle. Just remember: there is no on-site registration, so if you aren't signed up via RunSignup beforehand, you aren't running.

What do I get for crossing the finish line?

The event lives up to its name with a focus on medals. You can preview the finisher hardware on Usroadrunning ↗. They also host a "Best Costume Award," so if you're running this for fun rather than a PR, lean into the theme.

What are the vital race day details?

The course has a 3-hour and 30-minute time limit, which is plenty for most, but keep an eye on the clock if you're aiming for a very relaxed pace. Packet pickup is tight—only 30 minutes before the start until 10 minutes before the gun goes off—so don't show up late. Toilets are located conveniently in front of the parking area.
