The Manitoba Marathon 2026 is scheduled for June 21, 2026, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Participants will navigate a course that features a unique finish inside Princess Auto Stadium (IG Field), the home of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, making it the only Canadian marathon to conclude on a CFL field. Given the late June date in Winnipeg, participants should prepare for typical summer conditions, which often include warm temperatures and potential humidity. The event offers various running distances, ranging from a full marathon to a 5km super run, catering to competitive athletes and recreational walkers alike.

What distances and formats are available?

  • Full Marathon: Sponsored by Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries, starting at 7:00 am (Wheelers at 6:55 am).
  • Half Marathon: Starting at 6:55 am for Wheelers, 7:05 am for Red & Blue Corrals, and 7:10 am for Green & Yellow Corrals.
  • Marathon Relay (Johnston Group Relay): Teams of 4 or 5 members starting at 7:00 am.
  • 10km: Starting at 7:15 am (subject to change).
  • 5km Super Run (Flair Airlines): Wave starts between 9:20 am and 9:45 am.

What are the course details and elevation?

  • Full Marathon: A redesigned, Athletics Canada Certified Road Label course that is remarkably flat with a maximum elevation change of only 3 metres (10 feet). It is marked every km with water/electrolyte stations approximately every 3km.
  • Half Marathon: An Athletics Canada Certified Road Label course through scenic Winnipeg neighbourhoods.
  • 10km: A loop through St. Vital Park that returns to Princess Auto Stadium.
  • 5km Super Run: A loop starting on University Crescent around the perimeter of the University of Manitoba campus.

What are the race start times and cutoffs?

  • Full Marathon: 7:00 am start (6:55 am for Wheelers).
  • Half Marathon: Various corral starts between 6:55 am and 7:10 am. The late start deadline is 7:19 am. Course cutoffs include Pembina & Harrow at 11:35 am and Pembina Hwy & Crescent Dr. at 12:45 pm. All participants must finish by 1:00 pm.
  • Marathon Relay: 7:00 am start. All participants must finish by 1:00 pm.
  • 10km: 7:15 am start (subject to change) with a late start deadline of 7:30 am.
  • 5km Super Run: Wave starts from 9:20 am to 9:45 am; late start deadline is 9:55 am.

What awards are given to participants?

  • 10km Awards: Top male and female finishers receive awards, plus age group awards (Men, Women & Non-Binary) in 5-year brackets from 19 & under to 85+. The top 3 in each group receive medals based on chip time.
  • Marathon Relay: Uniquely crafted team finisher medals (the final runner receives the medal at the finish line to be shared).
  • General Finisher Swag: All distances include finisher medals (specific items like technical shirts or caps vary by race).

What is included in my registration?

The displayed registration price includes the registration fee and Race Roster transaction fees. Specifically, fees cover:

  • Race swag and medals
  • On-course services
  • Timed results
  • Post-race food
  • Insurance

Are there any age or equipment restrictions?

  • Full Marathon: Minimum age of 16 years; strollers are not permitted.
  • Half Marathon: Minimum age of 13 years; strollers are not permitted.
  • 10km: Strollers are not permitted (participants are encouraged to join the 5km).
  • 5km Super Run: Strollers are welcome; each child must be registered and start at the back of the wave.

What is the refund and transfer policy?

  • Entry fees are non-refundable with no exceptions.
  • Transfers: Available for a $20.00 fee plus applicable event fees for the Full Marathon and 10km/5km only. The Half Marathon does not allow transfers.
  • Bib Policy: Selling or giving away bibs is strictly prohibited and will result in a ban from future events.
  • Refund Protection: Optional coverage is available through the Enhanced Refund Protection Program for various qualifying circumstances.
  • Cancellations: In the event of an in-person race cancellation, all participants will be automatically transferred to a virtual event.
