The 2026 Lima 42K Marathon is scheduled for Sunday, May 24, 2026, in Lima, Peru. This World Athletics Elite Label road race takes place on 100% urban asphalt, offering a fast and challenging course through the city. In late May, Lima typically experiences mild spring weather with temperatures ranging from 15°C to 20°C (59°F to 68°F), often accompanied by high humidity and characteristic coastal mist. Participants can expect a large-scale professional racing environment, featuring organized start waves and a dedicated inclusive program.

What age categories are available?

The following categories are available, with age calculated as of race day:

  • General: Men and Women (18 to 34 years old)
  • Master: Men and Women in 5-year brackets (35–39, 40–44, 45–49, 50–54, 55–59, 60–64, and 65+)

Note: Categories are only opened if a minimum of 30 registered athletes complete the course.

Is there an inclusive program for athletes with disabilities?

Yes, the "Todos Corremos Lima 42K" (We All Run Lima 42K) program is available for:

  • Men and Women, aged 18 to 34, who are athletes with disabilities.

What are the requirements for Elite Athletes?

The event features two elite divisions:

  • Division A (International Elite - 42K only): Requires World Athletics minimum qualifying standards (Female: 2:31:50 / Male: 2:12:47).
  • Division B (National Elite - 42K and 21K): Requires standards set by the Organizing Committee/FDPA (Female: 2:45:00 for 42K or 1:25:00 for 21K; Male: 2:25:00 for 42K or 1:15:00 for 21K).
  • Mandatory: Elite athletes must pass through the Call Room on race day to validate participation.

What is included in my registration?

Registration includes the following items, which must be collected at the Race Expo:

  • Race bib
  • Timing chip
  • Official race shirt or BVD

When and where is the Race Expo held?

The Race Expo 2026 will take place on:

  • Friday, May 22, 2026
  • Saturday, May 23, 2026

The venue will be announced in advance. Please note that no kits will be distributed on race day (May 24).

What are the rules regarding bib transfers and distance changes?

  • Bib transfer: Allowed within official deadlines for an additional fee of S/50.00.
  • Distance downgrade (42K to 21K): Allowed within official deadlines for an additional fee of S/50.00.
  • Prohibited: Upgrading from 21K to 42K, size changes, or transferring bibs to athletes under 18.

How does the timing system work?

  • The timing chip is embedded directly into the race bib.
  • The bib must be placed fully flat on the front (chest) of the athlete.
  • It is not permitted to wear the bib on the leg, back, or any other location.
  • Athletes are responsible for ensuring the chip is not folded, crumpled, or covered.

How are start waves organized?

  • Both the Marathon and Half Marathon distances will utilize start waves.
  • Specific wave information is provided during the Race Expo.
  • Eligible disability categories will have a separate wave and start time.
  • Exact start times will be communicated via official media and email.
