Which distances are actually left to grab?

The Half Marathon and 5K are already sold out, so if you aren't looking for those, don't bother checking. Your only real shot at a serious distance is the 10K, but there are only about three spots left. If you're running with a family, the 5K Stroller has one solitary spot remaining. It’s a "blink and you'll miss it" registration situation.

What is the route going to feel like?

Expect a flat, road-based course that hugs the Barrie waterfront. It is built for speed, which is great for your splits, but stay sharp: it isn't a fully closed circuit. There are sections where you'll need to keep an eye out for limited vehicle traffic. It’s scenic, but it’s a road race, not a park run.

How much am I going to shell out?

The 10K is currently sitting at CA$86.97. Given that the Half and 5K are gone, you're paying a premium for those last few 10K slots. Note that if you register after May 14, you are forfeiting your race T-shirt, which slightly lowers the value proposition. If you need to pivot, you can transfer your registration via Raceroster ↗ until May 31.

Will I be racing in a furnace?

June in Ontario can be a wildcard. You’re likely looking at mild to warm temperatures, but the waterfront breeze can be deceptive. It won't be the humid mid-summer nightmare yet, but dress in layers you can shed. If you're doing the Half, remember the 10:30 AM cutoff for the 15km mark—don't let a slow start or heat exhaustion ruin your timing.

What can I expect at the finish line?

You'll get a finisher's medal and free race photos, which is a solid win for the price. They also provide post-race food to help with the immediate glycogen depletion. For the competitive types, there are age group awards for those 39 & under and 40 & over.

How well-supported is the course?

The hydration is decent. The Half Marathon has stations every few kilometers (2.75, 5, 7, 10, 13.1, 15.25, and 18.5 km), which is plenty for a flat course. Toilet access is also strategically placed at major intervals (5km, 10km, 13.1km, etc.). It’s organized enough that you won't be hunting for a bush mid-race.
