  • 5K: $30 until May 15; $35 after May 15; $40 on race morning

  • Half Marathon: $65 until May 15; $70 after May 15; $75 on race morning

What are the course characteristics?

The routes utilize the C&O Canal towpath, which features a light gravel and dirt road surface with minimal elevation changes. Each distance follows an out-and-back format, meaning runners will retrace their steps to reach the finish line. Walkers and strollers are welcome on the course.

Where are the water stations located?

  • Half Marathon: 7 stations located at approximately miles 1.55, 2.8, 5.5, 6.55, 7.6, 10.3, and 11.55
  • 10K: 4 stations located at approximately miles 1.55, 2.8, 3.4, and 4.65
  • 5K: 1 station located at approximately mile 1.55

Note: Gatorade is available at select stations.

How are awards distributed?

Awards are presented to the Top 3 men and women overall per distance. Additionally, 1st and 2nd place male/female awards are given for the following age groups:

  • 19 & Under
  • 20–29
  • 30–39
  • 40–49
  • 50–59
  • 60–69
  • 70+

Please note that overall top-3 finishers are not eligible for age group awards.

What are the Back of the Pack (BOTP) times?

The BOTP times are categorized as a series pace category rather than a strict cutoff:

  • 5K/10K: 11:00
  • Half Marathon: 12:00

What is the weather and safety policy?

A summer weather policy is in effect. Following National Park Service (NPS) heat and humidity guidelines, the event may be postponed or cancelled due to extreme conditions. Decisions regarding weather-related changes are typically communicated the night before or the morning of the race.

Are there any park fees to consider?

Race registration does not include the National Park entrance fee. Participants should review park pass options and potential military specials at NPS .
