Yes — this is a true winter mountain trail race. The event takes place entirely on the Wilson Creek trail system in southwest Idaho — a rugged, remote network of natural-surface trails through the Reynolds Creek gorge, along China Ditch, and over Wilson Peak.

The course features rocky, steep, snow-covered singletrack and doubletrack trails. Conditions are highly weather-dependent and may include deep snow, ice, wind, and sub-freezing temperatures. The terrain includes traversing the Reynolds Creek gorge, following historic China Ditch, and summiting Wilson Peak for panoramic views.

What equipment is recommended?

Trail shoes with aggressive tread and winter traction (e.g., microspikes) are highly recommended. Participants should carry a full winter safety kit, hydration, and emergency gear due to minimal aid support and remote, exposed terrain.
