The trail is difficult and requires focus due to tripping hazards, steep climbs, and uneven footing. Stream crossings are frequent, so feet will get wet. Creek water is not drinkable.

How is hydration handled during the race?

The race is cupless. Runners must carry their own bottle, flask, or reusable cup. Refill stations are available at aid points.

What is provided at aid stations?

Aid stations are placed roughly every 3 miles. Offerings include water, Tailwind, soft drinks, gels, fruit, snacks, and hot soup and drinks at all finish lines. Basic first aid and EMT presence are available at key points (8M, 20M, and 40M).

Packet Pick-Up is on Friday, February 6, from 4:00–7:00 PM at Hampton Inn (Asheboro). Race Day check-in is:

  • 40M: 6:00–6:45 AM @ Jumping Off Rock
  • 20M: 6:30–7:30 AM @ Eldorado Outpost
  • 8M: 7:30–8:30 AM @ Eldorado Outpost

What are the parking and shuttle arrangements?

  • 40M runners: Park at Jumping Off Rock Trailhead (limited roadside parking).
  • 8M & 20M runners: Park at Eldorado Outpost; shuttle service is provided to/from the start and finish.

What awards are given?

All finishers receive handmade pottery awards by local Seagrove artist Michael Mahan. Top male and female finishers in each distance earn commemorative pottery; overall winners receive Altra shoe certificates.

What are the key race rules?

Key rules include no pacing or unregistered runners, no littering, smoking, or alcohol within the forest, following white blazes to stay on course, and wearing visible bibs at all times. Runners exiting early must report to aid station staff. Violations lead to disqualification from current and future Uwharrie events.
