What is the course surface and terrain like?

The course is primarily run on hard-packed red clay plantation roads, giving it a rustic, semi-trail character. Approximately 14 to 15 miles are on this unpaved natural surface, while the first and last 2.25 miles are on pavement. The terrain is flat to gently rolling rural farmland.

Is this considered a trail run?

No, but it is not a typical road race either. While not a singletrack trail, the unpaved, natural-surface rural roads provide a rustic experience distinct from standard paved events. It is best described as a rural dirt/gravel road race.

What type of footwear is recommended?

Standard road shoes may slip on loose clay. It is recommended to wear shoes with some grip, specifically trail shoes, all-terrain running shoes, or rugged road shoes.
