What is the course like?

The course includes rugged singletrack and fire roads through the Sierra Nevada foothills, with less than one mile of pavement across all distances. The 50K features over 6,000 feet of cumulative elevation gain across four signature climbs: Cardiac Hill, K2 (Training Hill), Knickerbocker (near the Old Auburn Dam Site), and Overlook Hill. Shorter distances follow modified versions of the same trail network, maintaining the event's trail character.

What is included in the race registration?

Participants receive custom race swag and bibs. Aid stations are fully stocked with electrolytes, gels, boiled potatoes, candy, and more. The event is cupless, requiring runners to carry their own reusable cup or bottle.

Are there awards or prizes for the 50K?

Yes, the 50K has a community-supported prize purse. Runners may donate toward the prize fund during registration, with Singletrack Running (STR) matching 100% of donations up to $3,000. The total purse is determined by race day based on donations. The prize distribution is split 50/50 between male and female divisions, with 50% to 1st place, 30% to 2nd, and 20% to 3rd. Additionally, an extra $500 is awarded to the first runner of each gender who breaks the existing course record: Male (3:29:31 by Jonathan Aziz, 2023) and Female (4:06:58 by Kimber Mattox, 2023).

What are the event facilities and amenities?

Overnight vehicle and trailer camping is permitted at Overlook Park on Friday, February 20. No tents are allowed, but rooftop tents are permitted. Early packet pickup is available on Friday from 3:00–6:00 PM at Overlook Park, with race morning pickup available one hour before each start time.
