How are awards determined and distributed?

The awards ceremony occurs at approximately 9:00 AM. Award winners can pick up their awards at Sole Sports located at Verde @ Cooley Station through the end of December. Virtual participants do not receive age group awards.
What is the mission of the organizing foundation?
The Shun the Sun Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit founded by Dr. Gregory Allen, aims to raise awareness and fight skin cancer through education, prevention, and early detection. The foundation spreads accurate information about skin cancer causes, promotes prevention by limiting sun overexposure, and emphasizes early detection importance. Race proceeds fund education initiatives, sponsor activities and events, and donate sunblock to youth groups.

The Gilbert Half Marathon was hosted in Mesa, Arizona from 2009–2013 before moving to Gilbert in 2014 as part of the Gilbert Days celebration. Since 2022, the event has been based at Verde @ Cooley Station (3975 E Williams Field Rd, Gilbert, AZ 85295), which serves as the start/finish line and hosts the post-race expo. The 2025 race marks the 17th annual event.
