For the Half Marathon, you are looking at 6 repetitions of a roughly 2.18-mile loop. If you struggle with "mental fatigue" from seeing the same trees and landmarks every few minutes, this will be a grind. How brutal is the Alabama summer going to be?

You are racing in Montgomery in late June. Expect heat. It’s the Deep South in summer; even with an 8:00 AM start, the humidity will be high and the temperature will climb rapidly. Don't show up in heavy cotton. This is a race for lightweight, moisture-wicking gear and a very disciplined hydration strategy.

What are my distance and timing options?

All distances—5K, 10K, and 13.1M—start simultaneously at 8:00 AM. The Half Marathon has a generous 3 hour 30 minute time limit, which is helpful if the heat starts to sap your energy. The 5K and 10K are great for casual runners or families, but the Half Marathon is where the "Madness" in the name really comes into play due to the sheer number of laps.

Is the entry fee a good deal?

For a specialized road event, the pricing is quite reasonable: $30 for the 5K, $45 for the 10K, and $65 for the Half Marathon.
