This is a tactical runner's playground. If you just show up for the marathon, it's a solid, standard US city race; but if you play the "Weekend Series" game, the value proposition becomes nearly unbeatable. It’s a high-reward setup for those willing to sacrifice a bit of leg freshness on Saturday.
BMW Dallas Marathon 2026 takes place on Sunday, December 13, 2026, in Dallas, United States. The event offers a massive range of distances including an Ultra, Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K, 5K, and even a Friday night 1-mile dash. The standout feature is the multi-day series format that rewards repeat participation with premium gear.
What are my options for distance and timing?
You have plenty of ways to play this. The heavy hitters—Marathon, Half Marathon, and the Ultra—all kick off Sunday morning between 8:00 AM and 8:30 AM depending on your corral. If you want the full experience, the Saturday 5K or 10K starts at 8:00 AM/8:10 AM. My advice? If you are chasing a marathon PR, do not do the 10K on Saturday; it’s too much stimulus. Stick to the 5K as a "shakeout" or just focus on the Sunday long haul.
What should I expect from the weather in December?
Dallas in mid-December is a gamble, but generally, it’s the "sweet spot" for distance running. Expect crisp, cool temperatures, likely in the 40s or low 50s (°F) at gun time. It is rarely freezing, but the wind can bite in the open urban stretches. Pack a light throw for the start line and prepare for fast, dry conditions.
Is the weekend series actually worth the extra effort?
If you are a collector of medals or a gear nerd, yes. By pairing a Saturday run (like the 5K or 10K) with a Sunday long distance, you snag a bonus finisher medal and a custom ASICS finisher jacket. From a pure running perspective, it’s a challenge for your recovery, but from a "value for money" perspective, the extra swag makes the registration fee feel much more justified.
What does the finish line reward look like?
Standard finisher medals are provided for the main Sunday distances. However, the real prize is the tiered reward system for the BMW Weekend Series participants. Beyond the standard medal, the combo-finishers get that specific ASICS jacket, which is a much higher quality tier than your standard race t-shirt.
