- →Runners head east on the Pine Mountain Trail toward Warm Springs, then turn left onto the Boot Top Trail, climbing back up and over Dowdell's Knob Road, before reconnecting to the Pine Mountain Trail westbound to return to the start/finish
- →Terrain is rocky, rooty, and rolling — classic Georgia ridge trail
- →Notable highlights include waterfalls, wildlife sightings, a memorial rock at a 1953 plane crash site, the "Elephant Rock" just before the finish line, and sweeping views of "The Valley" from Dowdell's Knob overlook at the finish area
