Sugar Daddy Race 2026

What can I expect from the running surface?

The course is a dream for those who hate technical trails or jarring asphalt. You’ll be running on paved paseo trails, which means a consistent, predictable surface that is easy on the joints. The Half Marathon and 10K utilize loop layouts, while the 5K and Kids Run are out-and-back. The standout moment is crossing the historic Iron Horse Bridge—it’s a great mental boost when you're deep in the pain cave. Check the specific layouts at Sugar Daddy Race ↗.

Will the June heat ruin my race?

Santa Clarita in late June is a gamble. While the shade from the trail system helps, Southern California summer temperatures can climb quickly once the sun hits the pavement. Expect a warm start. I’d recommend light, breathable gear and a strategy that doesn't involve a heavy warm-up in the sun. If you are chasing a PR, aim for an aggressive early pace before the heat settles in.

How do I get to the start line?

You’ll likely fly into Los Angeles (LAX) or Burbank (BUR). Burbank is much closer and will save you a significant amount of time in traffic. From there, it’s a relatively straightforward drive into the Santa Clarita Valley. Most runners find it easiest to stay in local hotel clusters near the valley to avoid the notorious SoCal highway congestion on race morning.

What are my options for distance?

You have plenty of choices depending on your goals. The Half Marathon and 10K are the "serious" options for those looking to test their fitness on a fast, flat course. The 5K is perfect for a casual morning, and the 500m Kids Fun Run ensures the whole family is involved. If you're looking for a specific time goal, the Half Marathon is the standout.

Is there a reward waiting at the finish?

Yes, and it’s better than the standard lukewarm water and a granola bar. The organizers provide free Ben & Jerry’s ice cream to finishers—which, given the June heat, is a masterstroke. You’ll also walk away with a custom, themed "Sugar Daddy" finisher medal that changes every year. If you become a regular, keep an eye out for legacy perks for returning runners.

Is the entry fee worth it?

Between the organized trail access, the high-quality medal, and the ice cream, the value is hard to beat. It feels less like a "pay-to-play" road race and more like a curated community experience. You can check current pricing and secure your spot at Sugar Daddy Race ↗.
