South Shore Half Marathon 2026

What should I expect from the weather in early November?

Expect classic New England autumn: crisp, cool, and potentially damp. At a 7:30 AM start, temperatures will likely hover in the 40s°F (4-9°C), but the coastal breeze can make it feel significantly colder. Bring a light layer you can ditch at the start line. If you aren't used to running in chilly, humid maritime air, prepare for a bit of a shock to the system.

How do I handle the travel and getting to the start?

If you are flying in, Logan International (BOS) in Boston is your closest major hub, about an hour's drive away depending on traffic. For accommodation, look for hotels in Hingham or nearby Quincy to avoid a long commute on race morning. Since the event is capped at 500 runners due to venue constraints, don't expect a massive festival atmosphere; it's a focused, local affair.

What's the prize situation and finisher swag?

The rewards are geared toward the competitive crowd, with Marathon Sports gift cards up for grabs for the top three male and female finishers, plus age group winners (including a new 80+ category). For the rest of us, you’ll walk away with a long-sleeve unisex race shirt, a finisher medal, and free post-race snacks. It’s a solid, professional spread that feels more rewarding than your average local road race.

Is the organization reliable for race day?

Yes, but you need to be disciplined. Packet pickup is handled at Marathon Sports in Norwell on Saturday, which is a much better move than scrambling on race morning. On Sunday, gear check is available with bags marked by bib number, and you get professional chip timing and free finish line photos. It’s a streamlined, "no-nonsense" setup designed to get you running.
