Sloth Run Phoenix 2026

How much am I going to pay to run?

The pricing is straightforward but leans toward the mid-range for a non-timed event. The 5K is $49 and the 10K is $55. If you want to keep it lean, there is an "eco option" for $30 that skips the shirt. It’s fair value, provided you aren't expecting a massive, high-tech race kit in return. Should I prepare for extreme heat?

Yes. You are running in Phoenix in late June. Even with a 5:30 AM start, the desert sun is unforgiving. This is not a race where you can "tough it out" in heavy gear. Stick to ultra-light, moisture-wicking fabrics and prioritize hydration. The early wave starts are the only reason this event is viable in the summer; do not aim for the later waves unless you enjoy running in a furnace.

What are the different distances and start times?

You have four main options: a 1 Mile Family Fun Run, 5K, 10K, and a Half Marathon. Because this is a wave-based event, your start time depends on your group: Wave A starts at 5:30 AM, Wave B at 6:00 AM, and Wave C at 6:30 AM. If you are doing the Half Marathon, I strongly suggest aiming for Wave A to beat the temperature spike.

What is the terrain like on the course?

The route is set within G.R. Herberger Park, meaning you'll be on paved multi-use paths. Expect a flat to gently rolling profile typical of urban desert parks. It’s beginner-friendly and lacks any punishing climbs, making it ideal for those who want a steady, rhythmic effort rather than a mountain grind.

What do I get for finishing?

It’s a standard finisher package: a medal and either a finisher towel or a small giveaway. If you register early, they also mail out a running T-shirt (US only), and there is an option to upgrade to a technical shirt. It’s more about the memento than a high-end athlete kit.
