What are my distance options?

You have three choices: the 5K, the 10K, and the 13.1M half marathon. All distances kick off at 8:30 AM. If you are looking for the most "bang for your buck" in terms of time spent on the course, the half marathon is the flagship, but be prepared to pass the same start/finish area multiple times. The 5K and 10K are much more manageable if you just want a quick morning effort.

What's the terrain like on the course?

Don't expect a winding journey through the mountains. The course is built on out-and-back loops. The 5K and 10K use a short 0.78-mile segment repeated several times, while the half marathon uses a slightly longer 1.09-mile segment repeated six times. It is relatively flat and predictable, which is great for pacing, but the repetition can be a psychological grind if you aren't mentally prepared to see the same trees and turns over and over.

Is it going to be hot during the race?

Late June in Spokane can be a wildcard. While the 8:30 AM start time helps you beat the worst of the Inland Northwest heat, temperatures can still climb quickly into the 70s or 80s (F) by the time the half marathoners are finishing their final loops. Wear lightweight, moisture-wicking gear and don't skip the pre-race hydration.
