What is the course description for the race?

The courses wind through Cheyenne Mountain State Park, crossing grassy meadows and through dense timber stands beneath the granite face of Cheyenne Mountain. Trails are described as very runnable with occasional rocky sections. The 50K and 25K use a "figure eight" layout with the start, finish, and drop bag area near the intersection; 50K runners complete two laps with approximately 4,000 feet of total elevation gain. The 7 Miler and 4 Miler use separate, shorter courses on the same trail network.

Where is the start and finish location?

The start and finish are at Limekiln Trailhead, Cheyenne Mountain State Park, located at 410 JL Ranch Heights, approximately 5 miles south of downtown Colorado Springs on Highway 115 (Nevada Ave. south). Park entry is included with registration.

What is the event schedule on race day?

  • Volunteers on site: 6:30 AM
  • Packet pick-up: 7:00 AM
  • Race start: 8:00 AM

Is there an early packet pick-up option?

Yes, early packet pick-up is available on Friday, April 24, from 2:00 PM to 6:30 PM at Colorado Running Company.

What aid stations and drop bags are available?

There are 3 aid stations on course providing food, water, and Gatorade; participants should bring their own specialty drinks. Drop bags are available near the start/finish aid station; 50K runners can access them 3 times, and 25K runners once.

What awards and swag are provided?

All finishers receive a tech T-shirt and coffee mug. Prize money is awarded to the top 3 men and women in the 50K and 25K races. Medals are awarded to the top 3 in all races, and Masters winners in each race also receive medals. There are no age group awards.

How does the event support the beneficiary?

The race supports Achilles Pikes Peak, a nonprofit helping athletes with disabilities live active lives. Achilles athletes and their guides run for free. Achilles divisions exist for visually and mobility impaired runners, with recognition for the top 3 in the 50K and 25K races.
